NSW: Man charged after girl assaulted in Sydney street

SYDNEY, Aug 29 AAP - A 67-year-old man has been charged after allegedly grabbing a
12-year-old girl as she ran along a Sydney street.

Police say the girl was running along Botany Road, Mascot, in the city's south, about
4.30pm (AEST) on Wednesday when a man approached her.

"Police have been told that the man allegedly grabbed the girl and indecently assaulted
her," NSW Police Force said in a statement today.

"The girl freed herself from the man's grasp and alerted police."

A man was arrested at his Mascot home about 9am yesterday as a result of police investigations.

He faces charges of detaining a person for advantage, and aggravated indecent assault.

He was denied police bail and is due to appear before Waverley Local Court today.
